Co will today unveil plans to roll out a series of wireless local area networks accross the country, providing business users, and eventually residential customers, with high speed links to the internet and the comupter networks of companies (FT 10/04/2002). Co yesterday acquired the UK voice network of Redstone Plc. Under the deal, BT will take on the running of Redstone's network and will sell the carrier's wholesale voice capacity (FT 17/04/2002). Co and Deutsche Telekom are seeking to sell their combined 28% shareholding in Eutelsat, the pan-European satellite company valued at about Euro 3.5bn (FT 16/05/2002). Co has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets and business of Scoot.com Plc, the business finder directory service. The consideration will comprise cash of GBP5m and the assumption of deferred income balances and certain lease liabilities totalling approximately GBP3m. The transaction, which will be unanimously recommended by the board of Scoot, is conditional only upon the approval of Scoot's shareholders. BT has received undertakings to vote in favour of the transaction from shareholders representing 26.3 per cent of the issued share capital of Scoot. It is expected that the transaction will complete after the EGM of Scoot shareholders to approve the transaction (RNS 27/06/2002). Co yesterday confirmed that it would be interested in bidding for parts of WorldCom's international operations, should they be put up for sale (FT 25/07/2002). We would recommend advancing credit on normal terms to this Company. Given group support, we suggest setting a credit limit of GBP20.00m. All contracts may be considered.
